Easy Like Sunday Morning

Mornings on the weekend is the time our family likes to gather to plan our day ahead. Everyone seems to like a little something different and trying to decide what everyone eats gives me anxiety and I'd rather just lay out a few options and let the grazing begin. Also means I have more time for coffee.

Brunch and breakfast platters can be a great way to host a family brunch.

Tips for breakfast boards

PICK THE RIGHT SIZED BOARD

I always look at what I am planning to make and gather a few items on the counter before picking which platter I will use. I like platter meals because it is easier to carry in fewer trips, fewer dishes to clean and makes picky eaters easier to please by giving them freedom to choose.

USE WHOLE FRUIT

Don't cut all the fruit. I often put a few pieces of whole fruit on there so if it doesn't get eaten it can go back into the fruit bowl. It also helps give the illusion of a fuller board. I cut some fruit to make it easier for the kids. Just a few of everything to give some option.

CUBE THE SPREADABLES

I cut butter and cream cheese into small block cubes for easy grabbing. This keeps things neat and easier for everyone to grab the right amount for their needs.

SWEET & SAVOURY

Some members like a sweeter breakfast with fruit and cream cheese
while others like a spicy cheese bagel with butter and bacon. The choices make everyone happy.

USE WHAT YOU HAVE

We are fortunate to buy the food we do. I know that. I put a focus to feed my family healthy choices and quality products as best I can. No its not all organic. I do try to buy local and I do enjoy making a lot of our own food including the bagels shown above. I stand in front of my fridge, pantry and fruit bowl and always try to grab a variety of items to create these unique spreads. I find joy in making them and watching everyone pick out their choices. Leftovers are always used for meal preps for work and school. Nothing goes to waste. Sometimes I grab dried fruit, preserves, or who knows what. Get creative and use these platter spreads as a fun way to use up odds and ends or to enjoy seasonal delights.
