Grilled Sausage Boats

It’s a sausage party! Kidding but really these are a great dinner idea and party food.

Looking for a quick meal idea - try making sausage boats.
Sausage Boats with a variety of topping ideas.

The concept is simple: slice the sausage open and shape it into a canoe form. Fill with delicious items like cheeses, peppers, etc. Let your creativity and fridge finds guide you to fun bites.
I just love how you can use the sausage as a vessel to hold just about anything!

GRILLED SAUSAGE BOATS

Take your fave sausages (must be raw) and slice open without cutting the ends of the casing. 2/3 of the centre works. Hand form the sausages into canoes.
For the Filling I used:
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup mixed cheese

  • 1 TSP BBQ Rub of your choice

Combine ingredients and pipe or spoon the mixture into the sausage boats without over filling.  Top with your favourite garnish. Some ideas are listed below.
Grilled or bake at 300F for 25-30 minutes. Do not flip.

Top the boats with anything you like including
  • pepperoni slices

  • tomatoes & basil

  • onions and grilled peppers

  • fresh hot peppers

  • candied jalapeños

  • carmelized onions

  • or whatever you can dream up.
